Support Small Businesses: Buy Their Books!

Support Small Businesses: Buy Their Books!

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! We’re so thankful for so many things, as we near the end of Yvonne’s treatments and look forward to next year and her cancer-free confirmation. Especially for our clients with current book projects, who’ve been so incredibly patient, supportive, and flexible about schedules.

But we want to urge everyone to support them — and all authors — on Small Business Saturday by buying their books and gifting books to everyone who needs learning, growth, and entertainment.

And who doesn’t need those?!?!

We’ve talked so often here about how writing a book for publication means you are starting a new business. We urge our clients to get themselves into that mindset.

So now we want everyone to see authors that way, too. They wrote their books to share their knowledge, experience, and the wisdom from the lessons they’ve learned along the way. And to entertain you, whether by injecting stories with humor and drama into their nonfiction books, or incorporating real life lessons into their novels.

But they can’t accomplish those goals unless their books get into your hands, and the hands of many others. So give those authorpreneurs something else to be thankful for this weekend.

Go buy some books!

Then, if you want eternal gratitude, read them and let the author know. You’ll both have much to be grateful for.

And you’ll create a chain of gratitude by giving copies to others.

About Tom Collins

Here at Master Book Builders, I'm known as the "Book Artisan" -- the guy who takes over to help with your book design and publishing steps, after you and Yvonne finish writing, editing, and polishing your book manuscript. As a writer myself, I usually chime in with a suggestion here or there. Since reading your book is inherent in my layout process, I bring that understanding of your message to your cover design, as well. And then I help with many of the tech and "author business" tasks in the publishing and marketing phases, constantly learning as the industry evolves. I try to share some of that learning in my blog posts, too.

Book promotion is not a thing of afternoons. It's a t thing of now, today, every day. But one way to make it easier on yourself is to find groups of people to promote to, all at once.
