Editors Notes: Why, placing punctuation matters so much to meaning, metre, and such

It’s time for holiday cheer and Yvonne came across this hilarious oldie-but-goodie video about the importance of commas. A serious topic for us, of course, but this caroling analysis of the comma placement in God, Rest, Ye, Merry, Gentlemen (can you have too many?) is so much fun!

We have so MUCH to celebrate this season, as Yvonne completed her chemotherapy treatments this week. There will be a recovery from the treatment itself. But the doctors say she should be safe to attend our family gatherings by the time those big ones come around in a couple of weeks.

We hope your holiday season is filled with joy, that you end 2025 with a flurry of productivity and success, and that your New Year comes in brighter and better than ever.

About Tom Collins

Here at Master Book Builders, I'm known as the "Book Artisan" -- the guy who takes over to help with your book design and publishing steps, after you and Yvonne finish writing, editing, and polishing your book manuscript. As a writer myself, I usually chime in with a suggestion here or there. Since reading your book is inherent in my layout process, I bring that understanding of your message to your cover design, as well. And then I help with many of the tech and "author business" tasks in the publishing and marketing phases, constantly learning as the industry evolves. I try to share some of that learning in my blog posts, too.

What If You Did Write That Book This Year?

I wasn't thinking of dollars and cents, while I wrote. I was thinking of dollars and sense. The dollars I would invest by self-publishing and the sense of pride and accomplishment I would have once the book was completed. And, the sense to know the book was not going to make me rich and famous.
