Celebrating International Bestsellers + Can You Say, ‘I am Flawsome?’
Writing the book is really just the beginning. If you ask any author what the hardest part of their book project was, most of them will say the part that comes after the book is published.
At Master Book Builders, we work hard to create quality books. Part of that effort is helping our authors become international bestsellers.
What is an International Bestseller?
It seems self-explanatory, but in a nutshell, becoming an international bestseller happens when a book reaches a bestseller status on Amazon in several countries: the U.S., Australia, the U.K., Canada, and New Zealand. Helping an author reach this pinnacle across several countries requires a lot of work, but it’s well worth it. Amazon is always watching to see how books are doing, and they pay special attention when someone has put in the time and effort to help their book become a bestseller.
Yes, we work at it. It doesn’t just happen. If you understand the industry as we do and read our blog, you know that bestseller status is a combined effort by the author, us, and the readers.
We are proud that our bestsellers are based on the quality of the books, their sales, and our hard work getting the word out.
This week, we’re celebrating two of our authors who have reached international bestseller status!
Don’t Be THAT Leader
Mary T. O’Sullivan’s The Leader You Don’t Want To Be: Transform Your Leadership Style from ‘Command and Control’ to ‘Transformative and Visionary’ Revised and Expanded Edition, is an authentic look at leadership that doesn’t work. Leadership that fails the company, the employees, and often the leader himself. In this revised and expanded version of her first book, Mary goes deeper into:
…challenges of leadership through crises (like the 2020 pandemic), quiet quitting, corporate downsizing (in the most impersonal ways), and other current career topics like imposter syndrome, and the impact on — and solutions for — women and all leaders.
Achieving international bestseller status sets Mary apart from many others in her genre by showcasing her thought-leadership skills and her commitment to excellence. Her knowledge comes from decades of experience in corporate and as a successful executive coach. We’re proud to be able to say we helped Mary bring her original version of this book to life and to have been a part of this Revised and Expanded Edition.
Messaging from Ears to Years
The next international bestseller I want to talk about is from from our author, Michael Coleman. Michael has been with us for a long time, now. His work is focused around messaging. His first book, A Better Message in a Mess-age: Audio Optometry is an international bestseller and also has been in the Top New Releases category, chosen by Amazon.
His second book, A Better Message in a Mess-age: The Future of Messaging, achieved international bestseller status in multiple categories and is holding on in the Top New Releases recognition. Furthermore, Amazon has been showing Michael’s new book in the “Customer’s who bought this item also bought…” which nudges people to buy other products or books related to whatever it is they’re looking at at that moment.
Both of Michael’s books are about messaging. Vol 2, The Future of Messaging,
…covers a range of tactics for overcoming our “media-induced ADD” and both the challenges and opportunities presented by AI and similar evolving technologies. He demonstrates how — and why, now more than ever — we need to care for our communications to avoid “truth decay.”
Labeling himself a “theoretical electrician of emotions,” Coleman has written this book to help communication students, business professionals, and corporate teams “make charged connections between them and their next loyal customer.”
Mary O’Sullivan’s book about leadership, and Michael’s two books about messaging, should be on your reading list right now. Not because they’re international bestsellers – we’re all proud of that – but because the stories in the books are worth highlighting, writing notes next to, and learning from. These two authors wrote their books to serve a community – starting with each of you, reading this right now.
Community is exactly where books make the most difference. Oh – remember: when you buy the book, make sure to go back and write an Amazon review for the author. Reviews are the cornerstone of Amazon’s algorithm. Sales are important, but reviews support the author and sales of the book by demonstrating the book’s true purpose – to influence or transform someone’s life. Without reviews, sales are just a number.
Now, let’s talk about that Peek Into Flawsomeness.
First a definition. Flawsome is not yet in the dictionary (we could get it there – all we have to do is use it a lot and Merriam-Webster will take notice) so it deserves a sentence or two of its own.
Derived from the word flaw, flawsome and flawsomeness are much like awesome and awesomeness in that they define a state of being. Instead of rejecting our flaws, as we are taught to do – I’m too this or that, nor not enough of this or that – the idea of being flawsome embraces the little things that make us who we are, the little things we worry about at night or that keep us from achieving goals, until we can both accept them and celebrate them.
The book artisan part of Master Book Builders, Tom Collins, and our good friend who is the Founder of Nectar Consulting, Michele Molitor, are the co-authors of I Am Perfectly Flawsome – How Embracing Imperfection Makes Us Better and the two people who created this new way to look at the joys of being a flawed human being.
I am Perfectly Flawsome explores the journey of two authors, Collins and Molitor, as they challenge perfectionism and embrace imperfection. The book discusses the harmful effects of perfectionism and offers a more realistic and compassionate approach to living. Drawing on research, personal experiences, and stories from others, I am Perfectly Flawsome encourages readers to embrace their flaws and find beauty in imperfection.
This book has been in the works for months now. It’s a book of science and research, with insight shared via a survey the authors did with a select number of people, discussing their thoughts on perfectionism and how it influenced them in their lives, both career and personal.
The book quotes a wide range of professionals and experts who have studied this subject. But one of the people who most influenced the book is Aly Raisman, the American gymnast known for her superb work in gymnastics and her many medals awarded at more than one Olympics game.
A favorite quote in the book, from Aly Raisman, is this:
I think imperfection is beauty.
The book is due out in April. It might be May. You can’t rush perfection. Oops… I didn’t mean that. I meant, you can’t rush writing that covers such a deep and personal topic. It’s about the science of being imperfect. Flawed. Accepting our flaws. Becoming flawsome. Becoming a flawsomist.
This flawsomist is off now! Watch LinkedIn for the launch date of this book! It’s one you’ll want to read and share, especially with those folks who still believe they can achieve ‘perfect’ – this book will help them embrace their true nature, which is being flawsome.
