Embracing the Unknown with Lisa DeAngelis
Choice. It’s part of everyday occurrences. We choose what time to get up. What to wear to work or lounging around the house. We choose to celebrate the rain or cry about it. Lisa DeAngelis, in this transforming book, ????????? ??? ???????, explores the concept of choice and change.
She shares with us some of her learning and perspective to allow each of us to make a transformation according to our own needs.
At nine minutes in, we hear Lisa’s backstory. What devastating change came to her life that prompted her to make a major change when, as she says, “The world was my oyster.”
Freedom Being Adaptable Being Courageous
I am a very big fan of Lisa’s book and will continue to talk about it over time. But this interview uncovers so many insights into the human experience and how too often we fail to look at the bigger picture or to be intentional in our reactions to life’s interference.
Lisa tells us she was deliberate in her choice of words like – embracing, intentional, and nonjudgmental. As she worked through the book, she uncovered and discovered new things about herself, and the story of how she decided to change the title along the way is fascinating. I do tell authors all the time that you may have a completely different title when your book is done because you learn so much as you write it. About yourself and about your message.
I am still reading this book, but it will forever be by my bedside, in each reach, to give me the opportunity to reread some of the stories – and there are so many that are worth reading again and again! I want it near to help me keep my focus on transforming my life into one I can love, enjoy, and live to the fullest.
I loved how Lisa discussed the chapter on 30,000 feet above. You must listen to her tell the story, about 14 minutes in.
Not the Loudest Symptom
From learning not to listen to the ‘loudest symptom’ in her body to wondering how to make a change in her life, one that seemed a devastating change, to the transformations readers everywhere must be experiencing, the story and the conversation this week, is full of insight and emotion. You will be moved.
In choosing our path forward, each of us reclaim the ability to live a life that’s truly aligned with change. The beauty of change is in its potential, but the power of change is in choice.
In the video podcast, I couldn’t help reading certain passages of the book. About safety and how it’s important in our quest for change. About understanding, we need to ‘stretch’ to accommodate change.
This quote spoke to me in exclamations!
On page 29, Famed drama critic Brooks Atkinson said, “The most fatal illusion is the settled point of view. Since life is growth and motion, a fixed point of view kills anybody who has one.”
I urge you to add this book to the top of your reading list and have a pen and paper with you to take good notes. Or, as I did, write notes in the book, underline, and add lots of little tabs so you can find the good stuff. (the picture above with Lisa, is my book, with all my tabs showing!)
